Oversaw five-person sports staff, plus approximately 10 part-time copy editors and freelance writers. Responsible for sports section’s freelance and travel budgeting, as well as planning sports section content, layout and page design, copy editing and writing stories and columns.

The Georgia Press Association recognized the Banner-Herald sports section as the best in its circulation class each year I was sports editor. In addition, the Associated Press Sports Editors national organization ranked the ABH sports section among the country’s top 20 small sports sections in three of the four awards seasons.
